Preparing for sale 2010 4.8i - Comments on listing?

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings All,

I am reluctantly putting my 2010 4.8i up for sale soon. Wife got a Stelvio (which is fun) and I have been "informed" the X5 needs to go.

I've attached my potential for sale advert to be placed on ebay, craigslist, cars.com etc. Any thoughts on ways to improve it?

Chris

I hate to say it but Facebook is replacing Craigslist for buying and selling local things. It is awful to use and many of the buyers are complete idiots to work. I am having 2-3X success with Facebook compared to CL. (I parted out a 2011 328i last month)

I have sold 30+ sub $20k cars on CL. I have never had any success selling on ebay, cars.com or auto trader.

Consider adding a carfax pdf. There are people who run them for $5 on CL :).

How does the Stelvio handle compared to an E70 with adaptive drive? It may be my next car.

Yes, FB Marketplace is one of the channels I'll use. I have sold some things there in the past few years, so it's worth a post!

Stelvio is more nimble and feels smaller than the X5 (quicker, lighter steering is a big part of that as well as the curb weight). The cornering exit speeds are similar with less drama in the X5. So, the Stevlio ends up being more exciting to drive at the same speeds. I do enjoy it!

Pretty detailed listing ! How does your price compare with KBB and online like Cars.com?

It’s on the higher end. I would be looking for a knowledgeable buyer who understands that a well maintained vehicle is worth paying at the upper end of the range. I’m a buyer like that so I know they exist :)

Very comprehensive ad. I definitely prefer buying from sellers like you even with the slightly higher price. I think the only thing that's going to hold you back is the lack of a few desirable options, but the maintenance, and condition of the vehicle might make up for that. Good luck with the sale.

As an aside, do you have to have your real information to use FB marketplace, like their traditional social network platform? I steadfastly refuse to use FB. We left it back in 08ish after their privacy policy really started getting nefarious.

I left FB a year ago, but my wife is still active so I list as her. You do need an active account to use FB Marketplace.

What missing desirable options are you referring to? This X5 doesn’t have ventilated seats, third row, entertainment system or heads up display. Was it something(s) else?

The most important ones would be heads up display and multi-contour seats. But it's also missing nappa leather, leather wrapped dashboard & upper door trims, ventilated/anti-fatigue seats, and soft close doors (if that was available in 2010).

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice truck, well maintained, and with a good color combo. Most buyers would probably think it was fully loaded. But enthusiasts tend to want every option possible and also tend to know most of what was available for a given model.

Thanks, that’s a good list of missing stuff to max out the options. Fortunately it’s a fairly short list :)

It’s hitting the market next week.
