NEW 3.0SD Finally arriving after 6 months of agony

Hello everyone after waiting for 6 long months my new 3.0sd will be ready for me to pick up in 7 days. It has been an experience to remember starting with a dealer who against my better judgment convinced me to order the 3.0d over my initial choice of an SD. I was told that the SD would take 6 months to arrive; however, if I was to order the 3.0d it would be with me by February.

Feb and March arrived and guess what still no vehicle. Frustrated with the lack of response from the dealer I called the factory in Spartanburg and found out that the vehicle had been delivered in February. Turns out my crafty dealer sold my X5 to someone else and placed a new order, all the while telling me that the order was delayed. What bastards!!!! I immediately cancelled my order and placed it with a new dealer who happened to have a cancellation for a yet to be built 3.0sd. Unbelievable luck... if it were not for this cancellation I would have had to wait until August to personally spec out my vehicle.

As a result of the dealerships behaviour I placed a complaint with BMW GB and brought this to the attention of a number of consumer groups. It turns out that someone was willing to pay a lot for a vehicle with my specification without the lead time and they opted to turn a larger profit over providing customer service at its highest level. Throughout the entire waiting time the salesman was claiming ignorance and stating factory delays and incompetence as the reason for the lack of information.

Enough of that now... here is the specification I have ordered and as soon as it arrives pictures will follow:

E70 X5 3.0sd
Space Grey
Dynamic Pack
Media Pack
Aluminium Running Boards
Reverse Camera
Panoramic Sunroof
Dark Bamboo trim
Front Seat Heating
Xenon Headlamps
USB/audio Interface
Rear DVD
TV option
Hi-Fi Professional DSP Audio
Saddle Brown Leather
No Model Inscription
Folding and Heated Mirrors
Body Kit
21" Wheels Style V-spoke 239
Outdoor cover
Clear cover for hood, mirrors, bumper & wheel arch
Smart Guard

Any similar experiences and actions taken would be appreciated. I have also opted to order the round chrome exhaust tips due to the inability for me to add the 4.8i tips as I would have liked.

To Do (any advice is welcomed):

Window tinting all around
20mm spacers x 4
Performance tuning chip (best price I have been able to find so far is £450)

Stop gap pictures attached (X5 with similar look as upcoming arrival, my modified TT, my 996 Turbo)

Sorry to hear about your dealer. I had that happen with an M5 I had on order back in 2000. Your car looks great!

Congratulations! Lucky you waited for the SD and found a better dealer to work with...

Everytime you hear that not all dealers are crooks you get stories like this back. These guys are supposed to be professionals too... straight up lying - unbelievable.

Surely this dealership should be named and shamed for the benefit of all of us in the UK??

I did also buy the rims after delivery, RRP is about $10k, but I paid like $3000+GST. how much you paid for your rims.
