someone keyed my car :(
ohhh man this sucks.....was woken up this morning by my dad who let me know the x was keyed. went outside to take a look and there is a single scratch starting from the front door, continuing on to the rear door then onto the rear fender! on the passenger side, not the drivers side.
i can't believe this has happened! why to me? i feel so low now. called up the dealer and they expressed their sorrows. anyways i guess i have no choice but to take it to the dealer and see what they say. is there anything i can do in the meantime? i live in india so the availability of off the shelf waxes/buffers may be hard to find. has this happened to anyone? now i don't even feel like driving it anymore....my dad is ok about it, he says these things happen, but my mom is going apeshit on me. i had to vent a little...hopefully i feel better after the visit to the dealer. :( i will try and post a pic later |
that sucks man. obviously i'd be pissed, sometime it's what you have to deal with when having a nice car though. don't get too attached

the dealer said it would cost INR 18,000/- to fix, which is approximately USD 360 to repaint the 2 doors and the rear fender.
Is this a fair price? Mercedes quoted the same price. However, Mercedes have their own paint shop/area and BMW gets it outsourced. I can always blame bmw if the colour does not match. I will not be able to blame the Mercedes guys, though both use STANDOX. Would anyone know the STANDOX code for the 2008 Space Grey E70? Thanks in advance. Do let me know your views. Points appreciated in advance. |
That very good price compared to US$. In US it will cost at least $2500+. Not sure if they are painting the entire panels or just touch-up. In US they will paint entire panels.

In the US or even in Dubai, painting 2 doors will definitely be over $2500+. |
wow that is cheap......

Sorry buddy, I can feel your pain, have had it happen to some of my vehicles in India. From the price it seems they might just touch up the paint and then buff it, but if they are doing a full paint job it does seem to be a good price compared to here in US but I would be concerned about the quality. I hope they do it at a paint shop and not one of those street side places. BTW, ask them to do a spectrograph (computerized) match of the paint. If they don't have a spectrograph(computerized) system I would just get a good wax and electric buffer from Karol Bagh an DIY. This would ofcourse also depend on how deep is the scratch?
G' Luck |
I feel your pain.
I love my cars..... However the cost of just the paint and materials is more than they quoted you for the whole job. :yikes: |
I don't get why people key cars. They should all burn in hell for doing such things!
|
tru that, as well as hit and run people
