Real Offroad Skidplates
Anybody know where one can obtain some skidplates for an E70 that might offer a little protection? The X5 is already low and with no adjustable suspension having some protection would be a great idea...

Better get a Jeep if you are serious about real off-roading.

No diesel in a Jeep, a Land Rover or a Cayenne, so I ended up with the X5. Still looking to make it slightly more capable on the occasional trail.
But thanks for the insightful post! |
The E70's short-travel firmly sprung suspension does it no favours off-road. If you have sports suspension, it's even worse. The standard 18-inch wheels are also the best bet and will need suitable rubber. There are skid plates available (do a Google search) but I can't vouch for any of them. I suspect that are probably more cosmetic than anything else. If you are serious you may be better off getting some fabricated in an engineering shop but I wouldn't bother unless you sort the wheel/tyre and suspension issues first.
