Cold weather idle: Engine/RPM needle Shudder/stutter when stopping (cold weather)
Since the cold weather has hit, I have noticed the engine very lightly shuddering when I am below 1000 rpm after rolling to a stop.
I can see the RPM gauge stutter up and down in unison with the shudder/vibrations I feel from the engine(?). What could this be? - No fault codes. - I don't notice any power loss. - Does not happen at higher speed or above 1000 - Vehicle cranks fine in the morning. - Occurs even after the engine should be sufficiently warmed up. Thanks, |
Any ideas?

Cold weather could just be pure coincidence . Was having the same issues till i changed my usual gas station (wawa 92) started using shell 93 and issue stopped.
Maybe not related to your issue but helped my problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Now listen to this:
my x5 completely stalled and died when braking. ECL came on. Several codes appeared - BMW codes, not OBC. Opened the hood and saw some liquid on the plastic cover of the engine. Now the root cause: the oil cap wasn't sitting right & tight. Too funny that just this had the car spit out a code galore and literally let the car die at a traffic light. And I know it is the root cause, because the BMW Shop Foreman agreed and has seen this before. |
Based on my research, I am thinking this is a faulty eccentric shaft sensor.
