F15 X5 Real Life Pics
As the BMW press release stated that the 35d for US market is not hitting showrooms till January, it is still doing some high altitude testing around Colorado.
Spotter Todd says: "I happened to catch this somewhat disguised X5 (notice the BMW logos are covered on hood, tail and wheels but X5 emblem isn't) at a filling station in Lone Tree, Colo., just south of Denver. Talked briefly with the driver, who was German. He said he had driven cross country from South Carolina for altitude testing here. It is the the turbo-diesel model; he acknowledged the turbo diesel was a good choice for the mountains and that the driving characteristics of the new X5 were a bit different than the current model." http://www.autoweek.com/storyimage/C...ude-testin.jpg http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...-and-specs.jpg http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...-and-specs.jpg http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...-and-specs.jpg http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...-and-specs.jpg http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...-and-specs.jpg Read more: New 2014 BMW X5 xDrive35d diesel SUV photos; spied during high-altitude testing in Colorado - Autoweek |
first time seeing the actual yellow reflectors in place. That couldn't look any worse. This silver and the ugly 18" wheels (probably for snow) do it no favors either. These stock F15s will need some serious styling help.
|
Man, in stock form it is underwhelming in every way.

i wonder if it is possible at all to lift the skin of the F15 and drop an E53 shell onto it...
:) |
First word that comes to mind: Atrocious.
The side view looks absolutely terrible!!! |
Wow, I had a completely different reaction to most of the posters. These are by far the best "real world" pictures of the F15, and I like most everything except for the wheels. The side vents look good, and are far less contrived than on most vehicles, and don't look like add-ons like the F32.

The M-Sport looks good
The 35d looks very plain but the 50i M-Sport (palbay pics) looks pretty good to me. Big uptick over the base 35d.
Maybe the chrome roof rails, maybe the better rims, but it just looks more aggressive and like an X5 should look. Just my 2c |
Tough crowd here...
I'm reserving judgement til I get to drive one. Hoping to have one to drive in the next couple months. |
I hated the E70 when it came out it grew on me somewhat.
I'll reserve final judgement for when I see the F15 in person. E53 it is not... |

I don't understand the point of the big holes in the M-Sport bumper than have honeycomb that is just solid plastic. Looks stupid.
I still reserve final judgement until I see the car in person... |
The black one from the bottom isnt too bad, im guessing the 5.0? i still wonder if its one of those that the looks will grow on you guys
|
I am not completely happy with what I am seeing so far. I loved the e53 at first sight. I also thought the e70 4.8i sport package was absolutely stunning the first time I saw it in pictures or real life. However, I am not getting that feeling with this model. I guess time will tell, but so far it is the least attractive, imo.
I also don't like how the rear of the X3/X5 look so similar. |
Saw a fully loaded M Sport yesterday still with the camouflage on it, but I think it looks pretty good in person, allot nicer than I was thinking it would look...

Looks OK, buy not great to me.
The "Reverse 1965 Mustang" styling of the sides seems rather out of place and uninspired. |
looks absolutely horrible... reminds me of a chinese mash up / confused version of an X5. The E70 at least has a flow and cohesion. This looks like two separate vehicles photoshopped together...
they've given the waist a higher line and appearance by dropping the lower side kink, raising the upper side kink and creating a slab side.... problem is that it makes the side look bulky and the rear wheels look undersize.... The higher side window line is also a killer for bored little kids who can't see out... we had a hire car like that once and soon found out the problem... One of the worst BMW's I've ever seen. |

I tend to agree with much of the above post, which is why I chose the E70 M-Sport rather than wait for the F15. |
looks like shyt, has a car front end, suppose to be a suv
|
the nose on the f15 looks way too pinched down in comparison to the rear end, looks awkward, i really want to like the exterior but it's hard. the nose is squatty and the rear end sticks up in the air and not in a good way...
|
:( The Lords of X5world, have real mercy!
|
I was yesterday at dealership and there was f15 parked next to X3.I can tell,X3 looks much much better than this cheapchineselooking BMW...F15 back is ok,nose definitely strange, side terrible!BMW designer did great job for RR,MB,Porsche...
|
I've seen a few on the road now. What was BMW thinking, putting those black panels on the sides of the rear window???

I have seen mostly Sparkling brown and black on the road. Here are the ones I was able to take pics. I can tell the owners of 50i are really having fun with the gas pedal. :)
|
at a glance it looks like a beefier X1. :D

'15 X5 50i Gas Guzzler!!
My '15 X5 50i is great, lots of power, but, despite the front nose being elongated, the worst problem is gas mileage, it's a PIG with lipstick, gas guzzler compared to my '02 X5 with same engine minus the dual turbos.
