Lexicon740iL is on a distinguished road
P2187 & P2189 Looking for the culprit 06 E53 N62

I need some input from you guys on this one...

The patient is my 06 E53 4.4i W/ 100K on the clock.

About a month ago I had my SES pop on. I pulled the codes with my Bluetooth OBDII Reader as I'm in the middle of a move and can't find my coding tablet with DIS/SSS ECT.

She is running fine with only the slightest hint of a idle anomaly at initial startup. Who knows maybe it's all in my head since I see a SES light on My girl was in the X the other day and she said it drives, sounds and responds like every other time she has been in it.

I have put 500 miles on since it's tripped the code and I'm not noticing any real difference in idle or drive-ability.

But of course it bugs me and I want it fixed....

I did rebuild her about 5K ago after the dreaded valve stem seal failure and she's been purrin ever since.... Well except for the brake booster I had to put in last month

The codes denote Bank 1 and 2 both lean.

I have my vanity cover off and have been poking around and see nothing broke or cracked so far.

Today I made an appointment at the stealer for the pass. occupancy mat recall and I actually considered letting them fix it since it will already be there. Then I told myself why do I want to spend $$$$ if it ends up being something like the two 30$ CCV's right on top there I can swap in 15min.
After thinking about it for a while I remembered my friends on Xoutpost waiting to give me a hand with some DIY advice

1. What do you think in might be based on generic codes?

2. What would you try replacing first to eliminate the code in a process of elimination drill down? ie. do I just order a pair of the CCV Spring & gaskets and see if that shuts her up?

3. Do you think the dealer will be directed to the failed component with a body specific computer scan rather than getting into 1-2 hrs labor physically pulling parts and testing systems. I'd rather not pay 150-200+ just for the dealer diagnosis but 70 for a half hour labor for a scan with the latest BMW software doesn't sound so bad.

4. WWYD?

TIA for your time guys

- Alex
