With that said, I've run alot of fancy lubes in mine over the years...everything from diffys, to the oils.
On my M54, I like the Castrol 0W30, and it provides fair value - I don't bother changing at mielage. Just change it 2X a year, when I'm swapping winter and summer tars.
Yes, we do get that placebo effect after a nice fresh oil change...
Don't get me wrong, do it. It's your $. If it makes you feel better, do it.

That's what I was saying in the first line of my post, put 3k miles on factory fill (break-in), switch to whatever oil you choose to run, then Blackstone test each oil change to define trend.
