On you X5, please verify the part number @ RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog (key in your vin number) and look for "basic module" under Vehicle electrical system => control units, modules, sensors, relays.
You need a programming platform ISTA/p or SSS Progman or other related aftermarket bmw supported platform
Note: The GM3, once you bought it, opened it and programmed it. IT NOT returnable unless it has manufacturing defects. SO MAKE SURE THIS IS THE PART YOU NEED (this not cheap!)

thanks for your help. Iīll keep this information with me in case the fuse keeps blowing
Luckily I have I guy 1000Km away who has all BMW diagnose equipment, we became friends some time ago, he had to came here to check and reprogram my ABS module. I have to pay him the plane tickets , food and labour which is not cheap, but the guy is very helpful and helps making possible for me to have two BMW (X5 and a X6 4.0D) far from the rest of the world on the forest! thereīs always a price for adventure

I feel safe with these guy 1000Km nearby
But I have to say , much better than this guy , is this wonderful board and its members, you canīt imagine how much money I have already save by consulting this board for the last 6 years, and even better than money saved, is the fact I could have my car back on road in no time. Thanks again to all of you, it can only be possible to have a BMW in far distant place like Africa, thanks to you.
