Another interesting development today. The "Check Rear Lights" alert popped up about 40 miles into a drive.

When I got home I checked and neither brake light is working, or so I thought. I spent an hour or so checking bulbs and searching the forums. I popped the left fixture out and there is absolutely no corrosion anywhere to be found. Everything looks great.

Then I took another look at the lights and realized the brake lights are coming on just fine, they're not going out.

If I turn the lights on with the vehicle off, the two bulbs in the back come on at even levels. As soon as I turn the key on, they go into "brake" mode, even without stepping on the brake.
