Hey, I don't know what they are known for. Going bad may be one.
In my case: I got the x5 with 65K on it. It was a city car for a good half of its life... Brooklyn. I've driven it since I got it (for 2 years) and now have 115K on the x5.
Hope this gives you an idea, but by 65K the links have failed.
