Hi bud, good to know I'm not the only South African stalking this forum. Not sure if you noticed in my earlier post that I mentioned a product by invini, its called BMWhat. They do an iPhone and android app which is simple and intuitive. It does a lot of what the "official software" does but not everything. That being said, it will cover the majority of your needs I'm certain of it, including most coding requirements and all diagnostics which is very well explained in English! They are even busy expanding the app to include service interval reset for the DIY guys (that's all of us) as well as a battery registration button so we can change our own batteries without having to spend unnecessary money getting a dealer to register it for you. I know the PC software does all of this but it's a ball-ache to install and get working correctly...and not always easily understood. It's free to test ( lite version) and at roughly R600 it's hardly expensive when compared to the time you'll spend setting up the computer based stuff. Most Bluetooth dongles will interface perfectly well between the app and your phone (even if the app provider would have you buy his) and it's as simple as pairing car to phone. It saved me R42000.00 earlier this year when my local dealer quoted me to replace a damaged transfer case!!! I tried the free version and it returned an error of "no communication" with the transfer case control module. I was lucky enough to know a guy who loaned me an ATC700 control module which I switched out for mine and sure enough the communication was restored and my very expensive repair quote from BMW was thrown in the bin. I'm a believer!
