UK forecourts supply gloves and wipes so you keep your hands clean when fuelling. Been happening for many years after customers complained of exactly what you said.
As for BP Ultimate I have never found it makes enough of a difference to be worth the extra money. I think it's 48 Cetane instead of 45 and has extra additives but that's all.
