So. Just a quick thought. Would it be easier to just swap heads? I have started on the job today. Pull most of the front of the engine bay apart. I have the doner motor waiting for a few new parts. But I got to thinking, it's going to be a royal pain to deal with pulling the trans bolts and separating the motor from trans and messing with the front half shafts.
Any thoughts or experance with just swapping the good heads from the e38 m62tu onto the x5's m62tu? And obviously replacing the timing chain guides at the same time.
