Has anyone experienced problems with the high level brake light in the boot lid spoiler on the E53?

All other brake lights on mine are working apart from the 3rd one. Tried a replacement unit and that doesn't work either, tested it out and power doesn't seem to be present when it's meant to.

Is this brake light controlled directly from the lighting control module?
