Not sure why the engine died but VANOS is a good guess. At first the salesman thought the engine did come with a warranty since it had been done by BMW. But on further checking then he said it didn't. So perhaps if I call my local BMW Dealer and give them the vin number they could tell me.

Even if just the engine alone was covered, I'd feel a lot better.

Anyone have a guess on how much the BMW gold warranty would cost me? Would I have to buy that from my closest BMW Dealer, or could I get it from any BMW dealer nationwide that has the best price?
