I wrote a program with which you can extract and exchange the gif images from the navi software:
GifExtractor
The exchange works flawless but I didn't upgrade my navi system with the patched files.

You have to edit the following file:
\V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S\app_sw\navboot

I will keep you updated.
