I was rear ended at a stoplight June of last year. He had insurance through AAA. I called the BMW dealer here and was surprised they farmed theirs out to one of those heavy advertising run-of-the-mill body shops here. When I got with AAA one of their "partner" shops was a place I had work done previously and was very satisfied with both the work and service and decided to take mine there. It is also owned by a large Ford dealership. They had my X for almost three weeks because there was an exhaust bracket part they had to order from Germany because the dealer network was out at the time and they only used factory replacement parts. Fortunately I had a rental provided. My entire rear bumper and enforcement brackets was all replaced as well as one full rear side of the exhaust system. The paint matched perfectly.
Several years ago my wife was rear ended in her Land Rover Discovery and they had State Farm and came through wonderfully. That thing cost almost 7 grand and took almost 6 weeks to get done.
Great that you and your family are OK.
