Unfortunately the rear view camera quality was improved in later model years. I'm not sure if you would be able to simply replace your older unit with a new one - search in the forum and see what other members have done, it's quite possible it could be upgraded.

Only 'freshening' of iDrive is to replace the control unit, screen and iDrive controller with a new unit. You are looking at $3k. Depends how long you plan on keeping the car.
