Second run with Mobil 1 15W50
Hello all. I have now over the years run the gammit of oils, from AMS 0W30, 5W30, 10W40 and 15W50.

I have an early production M62. It's renoved for making a dieseling effect when idling. Every grade of oil failed to quiet it. I went with the lighter oil = faster circulation philosophy for a long time.

Recently i switched from a AMS 10W40 to the M1 15W50 for the second time. Today in the temp was in the 30's and it started with the 15W50 smoother then with a lighter oil. I theorize it's because of the layer or coating it leaves behind as it drains over night.

The engine has more power and more off the line "snap" on this oil. Mind you i never burned a drop of even the 0W30. But this M62 Likes, make that Loves the 15W50.

I think the early M62 may have similar crank bearing clearances as the S62, which requires a 10W60 oil for proper crank bearing clearances. For this reason with the success of the 15W50, even in cold starts, I'll run a 10W60 during the Summer months.

M1 15W50, give it a shot. No more water like oils for me. I like for the engine to be smooth like butter.
