yes, vanos is a much different animal on the N62. however, CPS is almost always related to something else. If you swtich them tho and the code switches banks also, that could be a bad sensor.

i would get INPA up and running and see what BMW specific codes it is throwing.

another thing to check is the screen under your lower oil pan. I've seen a few threads where car is throwing odd codes. Ends up being oil distribution issue. But I wouldnt start there. Id start with getting a more specific code.

never hurts to clean the vanos solenoids tho
