Also, what is INPA? Just another software tool like PA Soft?
I ordered the iSaddle BMW Scanner and I plan on hooking it up also when I get home. (Just arrived today). Is this sufficient for what you are refering to?

This is a link to the BMW INPA and DIS software many of us purchase:
BMW USB OBD Diagnostic Cable Inpa Ediabas NCS Expert Dis V57 SSS V32 GT1 Progman | eBay
It is the same software used by the dealer. Note that the software takes a lot of memory. It is windows based and runs best on XP. Many of us have a laptop dedicated to the software. I find this software to have quite a long learning curve. There is a forum dedicated to help users and there several here that can help. I use it so seldom I never get proficient. I don't find it intuitive at all. Most the the aftermarket scanners don't read all of the codes you will need. I am not familiar with the one you purchased. I only go to reading error codes when all shade tree engineering troubleshooting is exhausted as they can be very misleading.
I suggest you purchase the Bentley BMW service manual if you plan on much DIY.
