Comfort Access door lock sensitivity

I've had my X5 for about a week now, it's got the comfort access package, which I love. My previous car, Lexus IS 350 had the same features, so it's nice to be able to never take the key out of my pocket.

That said, it seems the sensitivity of the door lock/unlock touch spots is very poor. I usually have to try 2-3 times before I get it to unlock and maybe 6 or more times before it actually locks. Sometimes I give up and use the rear door handles to lock it.

Is there anything I can do to improve the sensitivity of the driver's door handle short of replacing it? It's also been raining here quite a bit lately, would that potentially make it function worse? The Lexus was flawless no matter what the weather...
