CEL on, smell fuel vapor, read code P0442
This is on my 2009 X5, 3.0. Title above pretty much sums it up. I checked fuel cap. It's on tight, but CEL has stayed on for a couple of weeks now. Strong fuel vapor in garage after filling tank. Also this vehicle doesn't have much pep unless you really put your foot into it. I am used to the old 4.4, but still seems to me like the 3.0 should do better. It does idle smooth.
Just bought this vehicle a month ago for my wife. I don't know much about its history. Hoping someone on here has fought this battle before and can save me some time on where to look for the problem. I guess I should hope it's only a loose hose somewhere. Help is welcome, and thanks!
