Had to put my second set of fronts on last year. First time was under warranty but they didn't follow the guidelines of replacing both sides at the same time so one failed a few months after the second. The reasons I stuck with the air suspension rather than going the spring route:
1-Money. Granted the springs would last longer than the next time I have to replace an airstrut, it is still a larger investment to swap the whole system out.
2-Towing. Self-leveling is nice.
3-Extra clearance. Not a lot of it, but being able to raise a couple of inches when I go out to the lake is handy.
Not sure if OP has 2-axle system or not. (1 and 3 might not apply.)
