I had put my springs away as a 'to do later' project, after reading about the need for new aftermarket struts.
But after seeing this update, i got curious too. And low and behold, i could actually unscrew the plastic end of both of my original 2004 struts with my bare hands.

I added a pair of tight fitting rubber washers in both ends of the springs, to eliminate that 'springy' sound it makes when they otherwise would slide up and down the strut.

After having remote-popped my hatch around 50 times with a huge grin on my face, i can say that it works flawlessly. -Even with my 11 year old struts.

I would love to see pics of the rubber washers you installed, can you post some pics?
