The first step is to remove the cabin filter housing and check the back side of the engine for visible leaks.It takes not more than 15 minutes to do so.

There's a big plate (the end of the valley) with a gasket that can leak. You would have to drop the tranny to get to it. A PITA job for sure. Most of the other leaks in that area (heater hoses, crossover pipes, etc) would be leaking down the outside.
