Quite frankly, I would be paying your former room mate a visit, with copies of all invoices/receipts/repair bills and demanding to know what else he/she has done to the vehicle. A bit of 'muscle' at your side, may influence the situation and could result in a positive outcome. I can't believe anyone would do this to someone else's vehicle intentionally. You must have really pissed him / her off!
