Deansbimmer is on a distinguished road
No luck on ridding myself of the P0022 Vanos 34 code today... Moved solenoids and tried some other spare solenoids and sensors to no avail. I feel like I've read every Vanos problem thread on the internet, but I just can't seem to get a hand on this one. I feel like it's an oil supply or pressure issue due to the erratic sensor readings. I've called in the big guns over at bimmerforums and Raj at Beisan, hoping to get some solid insight on my issue.

I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with the actual vanos adjuster itself. Maybe something went haywire when I was installing the new seals and pressing the housing. I read of one other owner who unknowingly fractured the plastic ring in the vanos when pressing the housing, which caused the plunger to not seat all the way and cause erratic cam sensor readings and codes similar to mine. I have another set of vanos from the old engine, and got another set of Beisan seals. I think I'm going to rebuild them and swap it into bank 2. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I'm really trying to hustle on this fix so that I can get the car registered. As of March this year, Texans can't register a newly purchased used vehicle until the car gets inspected, but I can't do that until I extinguish the CEL. Doesn't make much sense!
