Well I got the GAS DISA rebuild kit for the auto x5 today and went to work. If anyone has not done this, scraping the old built in gasket takes the longest. The rest is pretty straight forward if you study their site "how to" carefully.
My DISA in the auto was so bad the pin fell out into the manifold when I removed it. Lucky for me it was right by the opening.
The previous owner did some liquid gasket magic on the gasket and used a piece of copper wire to keep the flap attached to the middle plastic part. A ticking time bomb in my view.
I have stacks of service records and I am stunned the shop never checks the see if the DISA was in good shape. No codes or pending codes. I say this because he paid for yearly inspections and nothing has ever been mentioned about the DISA. It is so easy to check. I am at the point where I can remove and install the thing in 3- 5 minutes .
