Ie. My guidelines are about a 2 feet off centre of the actual position of the car, so largely ignore them.

H'm, interesting. I've observed rear view camera on most vehicles are installed offset to one side including BMWs with factory camera. Perhaps the particular camera system compensates for the offset, I don't know...
