I'd concur with EH6TunerDaniel but suggest that you check:

(a) wheels you bought are indeed the correct ones. if you have the part numbers from the hub and ET number (offset) - its easier for us to help us.

(b) Check that the wheels are mounted on the correct side of the car (as tires are directional) and that the outside of the tire (marked) on the outside. I've seen this happen. Check that the tire pressure is correct and that any wheel weights might not have come off the car in the wheel swap / transport - more likely if they are taped on vs. clip on weights.

(c) We don't know what your standard set was (17, 18 or 19 inch) but I'd agree with EH6TunerDaniel that the most likely issue is that the wider wheels are NOW making you feel the normal wear in your front end. The cause for front end shudder while braking on an E53 is MUCH more likely to be worn tension strut bushings, the replaceable ball joint and/or other front control arm with an integral joint.
