This problem has nothing to do with electrical connections it has to do with fuel vapor pressure leaking. First thing would be to insure gas cap had a good.gasket seal.

Anything happen that might have disturbed something related to vapor pressure. A disturbed fuel pump gasket?

Let me check what I posted on top (and edit if I need to). I don't recall saying that the code was related to burned connector. The burned connector melted the plastic and the vapor leak is the issue (just as you stated).
