Autozone includes a compression checking valve within their loan-a-tool program (free). You should check it out and do a compression check. The results will give you peace of mind that your engine is fine (or the results will tell you the valves or seals are bad which would at least keep you from throwing $ away on other parts which are fine). I did the compression check after spending $150 on parts and fluids which in my case could have been $150 toward my valve job.
