The chain tensioner was replaced, I did the work myself and the car is my father's so I am not sure if it was making any noise before the guides went.

I didn't check the pump or the pump chain but would think that if they where damaged the noise would be consistent across the rev range where this is quite specific as it only happens at 2000-2500rpm, any higher or lower and it is as normal.
