I am putting up a side-by-side photo of the INNER CV Joint of BMW X5 vs a Volvo 850, S70 setup.

In the Volvo, you have to bend the 3 tabs to release the tripod.
For the BMW X5, I don't see anything holding the tripod in place (other than the rubber boot).
