If they are replacing it, can you take the old tank? It would be cool to have a broken tank to do the external temp sensor idea and install it to see if it works.
Someone needs to be the leader in this and do the sensor
I wish i was electrically capable cuz i'd do it. I can do mechanical things but none of that resistors and tricking the system stuff :/
