What I find interesting in many of the owners never get any notification that the Alternator is not charging which is puzzling, seems to be an error or lack of a simple design to alert the driver.

2 times during a drive yesterday, my UltraGuage triggered a high Voltage alarm I have set to 15 Volts. I have had the vehicle since February of this year with 66k miles. I have put 12k miles on in 7 months to include two 2300 mile trips and have had not a single charging problem until now. At 78k miles the no charge on cold start and a few high Voltage events occurred in the past few days.

I will keep an eye on things until the regulator is replaced and will update once the regulator has been changed.

I now see that on these newer chassis vehicles there is not a good indicator for charging system problems.
I thought the same thing too. I guess 4X4/DSC/ABS means Alternator Fault lol

Keep us updated on your progress, I plan on rebuilding my alternator and take some detailed pictures to aid anyone in the future.
