Well last night I went over to a buddy of mine's place where he plugged his Rhingold BMW scanner in and it came up with the following:

S0053 No communication possible with computer
0000BD Module Electronic Break Distribution
EGS electronic gearbox control
000005 EDS pressure actuator EDS5

clearly this is all greek to me but maybe some of you have seen this before
