I have now found out the part I have is for 2008 on and even as you say the iPhone 5 did not come out until 2013 this works with the iPhone 5 in the 2008 model the adapter is used mainly to charge the phone and use the Internal antenna for Bluetooth which my iPhone 5 works with Bluetooth in my 2005 car all I wanted to know was what adapter do i need for the 2005 car if need be I can use an iPhone 4 as a car phone
