No Gregg my X5 4.6is is fine. This is a family members 2003 4.4 X5 that is in really good condition. The code that comes up is a torque converter excessive slip. He just wants to be prepared for the worse. His Tranny shifts fine except it gives a little bit of a grab when you slow down at the lights and eventually it throws the check engine light. Scan it at that point and it gives the torque converter excessive slip. He has maintained this X5 well over the years and would like to get another 5 -7 years out of it. The dealer price on the Tranny as you can imagine was out the roof so he would like to get a ZF but genuine remanufactured.
