I have the Eisenmann Race on my 4.6is X5 and its awesome but I did leave the factory resonator in place. The resonator has a lot of sound absorption material in it. leave it on. Thank you for the great feedback. I'll most likely leave the X pipe off then for now as I most certainly don't want drone etc! I found that Supersprint make a tuned resonator for the 4.6iS and it is not all that expensive. In the future that could be a good upgrade.. without losing power either..
