OK its time to let it go now. Everyone has had their chance to play nicely.
The site is for sharing experiences, resolving ownership challenges of vehicles long out of any factory warranty. The parts are what they are. The high failure ones will bring out the aftermarket, who will either engineer improved materials or they will build cheaper ones to capitalize on those owners and shops that focus on price over anything else.
Long term owners make up most of us. Newbies will come in for a quick tip and will move on. So it makes no sense to crying about parts designed some 12+ years ago. Parts fail, some more than others, some owners get vehicles that eat parts (the reasons-- see owners and vehicles for details). Gee, what a concept.
