It's not a belief, it's basic chemistry and physical science. Here is the
stoichiometric equation for burning gasoline:
The folks that get irritated are the ones that can't stand the truth, based
on fact and science, like Jfoj. Take a look at what lead to the last nasty
spat with him. He claimed that there was no vacuum in the intake system
ducting, only in the manifold, past the throttle body. That isn't true.
And I wasn't the first to point it out, Upallnight was already in a little
spat of his own with Jfoj and had pointed it out. I was just agreeing with
part of Upallnights argument.
I outlined how there is more vacuum in the manifold, less in the ducting,
but that there is obviously some vacuum in the ducting from the TB
through the ducting to the MAF, the air filter, etc. While doing that, I
clearly said that I agreed with his main point, which was that he said
that the fuel pressure regulator doesn't use vacuum to regulate the
pressure. He had provided a reference which said that, though oddly
he later discredited his own reference as unreliable because of
translation errors.
His response? He just doubled down on the nonsense that there is
*no* vacuum in the intake ducting and said it over and over. Together
with a sneer at basic science, like his being a mechanic trumps the laws of
physics that have existed for hundreds of years. And
in the current case, he claimed that the crankcase is drawing in outside
air constantly. Again, that is not true, it's not how the car is built,
it's not how the CCV system works. So, I posted that it's actually a
closed CCV system. I would think people here would want to learn
about how systems on their car really work.
As to being respected or not, I really don't care. If some people don't
have a respect for science, how cars really work, can't stand the truth,
it's not my problem. It's odd how the comments about respect are
directed to me and not to the poster that just called me "scum".
