I think Wagner was expressing amazement at the chaos in general, and you can't help but generalize...while there is a difference between countries, one which we try to understand, it is my understanding that even Kenya is tough to travel in now...it is difficult even for French nationals to lie in peace on the beach in the Ivory Coast without being robbed (don't tell Wagner but I have friends who are French)...There are thousands of people like Rayxi's friend who only travel under heavy security...we would love to be educated about the good news coming out of the continent, because, god forbid, the US media airs something positive...

From Idi Amin, to Liberia, Sudan, to Somalia (which is ruled by warlords and has a long tradition of piracy going back to the Victorian Empire), to the Nigerian guerillas, and the agri/economic disaster unfolding in, is it, Zimbabwe?, it hard for even the most travelled of Westerners to comprehend and make sense of the level of cultural, social, and political unrest...we are agog at the capacity for violence and genocide within the continent, and we feel demoralized about not being able to halt the AIDS pandemic. Please share the success stories because we want to hear them and support them.
