As was said, most of the cost on the 4.8 is because of the standard would be 4.4 options....not so much the extra 0.4 litre of motor and 40hp. I know when I bought my X5 4.4 the total cost was about 4,000.00 shy of a 4.8 base.

Dam, I would have paid the $4K and got the 4.8!! Your resale value would def be retained given so few 4.8's out there ... oh well
