For me, it wasn't a money decision. I just dropped over $5k into getting a new rear differential and axles and another $500 for the coolant reservoir. What broke me was when I was getting prepared to drive to DC with the family, I turned to the wife and said "Are you sure we don't want to take your Jeep? I am scared that this car won't get us there and back". That's just a bad feeling to have. Like others had mentioned, any ding on the cluster would cause my heart to drop. I simply had ZERO faith in the car, so it was time for me to get out.

With you having kids on the way, I've been there broken down with my two boys waiting for BMW Assist to send a truck. It's not fun.
