With winter tires, when I punch it I can tell the rear end wants to step out. That is the nature of this awd, it is rear biased. I can only imagine how much worse this would be without traction tires.

I am not harping on you, but the fact that you don't know what kind of tires are on the car does not bode well. They probably are not designed for the conditions, and their current wear level is in question.
