TriX5 is on a distinguished road
I have a Tundra truck for anything that is more than two hour drive..... So far no repairs, just maintenance. I did the timing belt and w. pmp at 105k miles preventively. Replaced some hoses, belt and rollers at the time as well. Over the years I drain/filled the trans (liquid comes out almost as clean as it goes in) and replaced diff fluid several times.

Two weeks ago (at140k) the secondary air injection pump failed and the debris clogged the valves between the SAIP and the exhaust manifold. Lowest quoted number on forums to repair $2400. The darn system is under the enormous intake manifold. (No idea why they put it there, you can park a small SUV in the engine bay...) Took the intake off, cleaned the three valves out and replaced the SAIP and hoses at a cost of about $300.

If an aging X5 scares you, better buy a new one or a Highlander ;-)
