ANOTHER UPDATE..

20 mins after posting the above post i was waiting for my kid and had the X5 idling at the side of the road and it started a new noise.. some type of clicking, could be a knock, very intermittent and was coming from the front of the engine.. did it on/off for a few mins then went away and a few mins later it came back but had more pause in between the noise..
i had to turn off the vehicle to go get my kid and when i came home i left it idling in my driveway for 20 mins and the issue never re-occured ??
